LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Laser hair removal is a selective photo-thermolysis process, which uses light energy to permanently damage hair follicles. Laser hair removal is suitable for men and women with all skin tones. It works on your entire body, including sensitive areas.
SKIN VISIONS practitioners are trained to the highest British standards and registered to the BMLA. We also use the industry’s Gold Standard, Lumenis Light Sheer Quattro, a laser system with unique dedicated technology for pain reduction, enhanced efficacy, and safety.

Laser Hair Removal Pre-& Post-Instructions

Prior to undertake a laser hair removal session you will need to read and acknowledge the following pre care, after care and contraindications.

Pre-Care:

  • Do not tweeze, use depilatory, wax or pluck the area being treated between or prior to sessions (stop use min 4 weeks before the facial treatment and 6 weeks before for other areas on the body) Only shave the area.

  • The area must be cleanly shaved within 24 hours prior to the treatment. Electric razors are not recommended as the hair is typically left too long.

  • The treatment area needs to be free from make-up, lotion, deodorant and sun cream- inform the practitioner before treatment starts if you require wipes.

  • The area cannot be treated if it has been exposed to sun within 4 weeks prior to treatment.

  • Fake tanning products cannot be used 4 weeks prior to treatment; the area should be thoroughly exfoliated to remove all residues.

  • Avoid aspirin and other blood thinners.

Post-Care:

  • After the treatment, the area may be noticeably red (erythema) and may be swollen (edema) around each follicle. You can further cool the area after the treatment to reduce the inflammation. This redness may last 2 hours up to several days after the treatment depending on the individual.

  • You may apply cool compresses for 15/hour for comfort, aloe gel can be also used.

  • Apply sun block factor 30/50

  • Do not tweeze, wax or pluck the area being treated between or prior to sessions. Only shave the area.

  • Hot showers and baths are not advisable for a minimum of 48 hours after the treatment. Only a cool shower should be taken.

  • Deodorant must be avoided for 12 hours, it can then be used so long as the skin is not irritated.

  • Exercise is not recommended for 48 hours after the treatment as this will reheat the area and may cause discomfort.

  • Itching after treatments may occur, topical hydrocortisone or Benadryl can be applied to alleviate this, or an oral antihistamine can be taken (Claritin is better for day use to prevent drowsiness).

  • If you change your medication you must inform the clinic more than 48 hours prior to treatment.
